Wiosna 1517 roku Mikołaj Kopernik prowadził obserwacje ruchu Słonca, za pomoca tablicy astronomicznej
znajdującej się na murze zamku w Olsztynie, w celu dokładnego wyznaczenia momentu równonocy. Tablica przetrwała do dziś, ale zakodowany w niej moment równonocy nie został odczytany przez Kopernika – dokonano tego niedawno.

In the spring of the year 1517 Nicolaus Copernicus carried out solar observations with help the astronomical table constructed on the wall of the Olsztyn Castle, attempting to determine a precise moment of the vernal equinox. The table is still there, but Copernicus was not able to determine the exact time of the equinox encoded therein – that was done recently.
