25.04.2024, 12:00 PM Open meeting with Prof. Francois Englert, Nobel Prize in Physics 2013

2024-04-15

Dear All,
We would like to kindly invite You to an open meeting with Nobel Prize laureate Prof. Francois Englert.
Next week a ceremony will take place at the Kazimierzowski Palace on Krakowskie Przedmieście to confer an honorary doctorate upon Professor Baron François Englert. The distinguished physicist was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2013, along with Peter Higgs, for the groundbreaking discovery of the Brout-Englert-Higgs mechanism, which is the foundation of the modern theory of elementary interactions, known as the Standard Model. As a professor at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and a prominent member of the Service de Physique Théorique, he has also contributed to statistical physics, quantum field theory, cosmology, string theory, and supergravity, making him one of the most influential thinkers in the field of natural sciences.
On April 25, at 12:00 PM, an open meeting with Prof. Englert will be held in auditorium 0.06 at the Physics Department. The meeting will include a screening of the film "Rebel and a Nobel Prize Winner" followed by a discussion with the Nobel Laureate!

Looking forward to meeting You there!
