Abstrakt
Już w najbliższych miesiącach po opublikowaniu przez Hahna i Strassmanna w styczniu 1939 r. pierwszych komunikatów o wykryciu rozszczepiania jader uranu, wywołanego neutronami, została teoretycznie przewidziana możliwość wywołania rozszczepiania najcięższych jąder za pomocą promieni γ o dostatecznej energii. Jednocześnie też niemal zostały podjęte prace doświadczalne mające na celu wykrycie tego zjawiska.
Abstract
Already in the coming months, after the publication by Hahn and Strassmann in January 1939 of the first reports on the detection of fission of uranium nuclei caused by neutrons, it was theoretically possible to induce the fission of the heaviest nuclei using γ rays with sufficient energy. At the same time, experimental work was almost undertaken to detect this phenomenon.
